SLRP Has Our Favourite Nigiri in Dubai
The following is a review of SLRP Ramen & Rolls Bar by 3Fils written by an editor of Cake The Mag.
With a mall location, a relaxed setup, SLRP Ramen & Rolls Bar by 3Fils looks like a casual spot in Dubai Mall, but the second the food hits the counter, it’s clear this isn’t a “quick bite” situation. This is serious food hiding behind a very laid-back façade.
We highly recommend grabbing seats at the bar. Watching the chefs work up close adds to the experience in a way that feels intimate and honest, like you’re being let in on something quietly special.
Then there’s the food which, frankly, does not match the casual ambience of the mall (in the best way possible). Our top three are non-negotiable. The Salmon Nigiri is, without exaggeration, one of the best we’ve had in Dubai. The fish is impossibly fresh, soft, and rich, melting almost instantly the moment it touches your tongue. It’s buttery without being heavy and clean without being boring. This is the kind of nigiri that reminds you why simplicity, when done right, always wins.
The Salmon Grab follows closely behind. It’s perfectly balanced and just indulgent enough. Every element feels intentional, coming together in a way that’s satisfying without being overwhelming. It’s the dish you keep thinking about halfway through the rest of the meal. Then comes the Hamachi Granita, which genuinely caught us off guard. The hamachi is fresh and delicate, but pair it with the leche de tigre mango granita and you’ll fall in love. Cold, bright, slightly sharp, slightly sweet, it cuts through the richness of the fish and turns the dish into something playful, layered, and memorable. It’s easily one of the most interesting plates we’ve had in a while.
What makes SLRP special is that none of this feels forced. There’s no attempt to dress things up as something they’re not. The menu feels confident, the execution feels precise, and the overall experience feels comfortable.
On this visit, we were clearly in the mood for clean, fresh dishes, but our next mission is already set. SLRP stands for “Ramen & Rolls Bar,” and we’ve heard enough good things about the ramen to know we’re not leaving without trying it next time. If this is how they handle raw fish, we’re curious to see what they do with something warm, comforting, and soulful.
