8 Summer Scents We're Wearing on Repeat

Balenciaga Le Dix
Balenciaga went back to 1947 and pulled out a masterpiece. The new Le Dix is a reverent reconstruction of the brand's very first fragrance rebuilt around iris rather than the original's aldehydic bouquet. Iris absolute and violet leaf swirl into a soft powder with frankincense underneath to keep it from floating away entirely. It’s summer for someone who wants to smell expensive and considered. Wear it to a rooftop dinner in raw silk.
Burberry Hero
Burberry's answer to the “clean but not boring” brief. Hero opens on a snap of bergamot before juniper and black pepper move in, then dries down into a cedar base. It's the rare men's woody-spicy that is versatile enough for the office, warm enough for a beach bonfire, and priced like the smart, unfussy staple it is. June through September, this is it.
Cult Gaia Mast
Cult Gaia's handbags already feel like summer objects, so it tracks that their debut fragrance, named as the Farsi word for “intoxicated”, Mast smells like the best five minutes of a beach vacation. Italian bergamot and fresh coconut open bright, orange blossom smooths the edges, and Haitian vetiver with Brazilian tonka bean grounds the whole thing in something closer to amber resort-wear than sunscreen.
Dior Paradise
Dior Paradise is the kind of gourmand that skips the usual summer trap of smelling like dessert. Mandarin keeps it bright and citrus-forward while a bittersweet almond note gives it warmth. It settles into a soft woody-floral base with tonka bean, so it reads sun-warmed skin. Ideal for anyone wanting a scent that carries from a beach day into a dinner reservation without changing bottles.
Glossier You Doux
The quietest, most grown-up member of the Glossier You family. Where the original leans peppery and skin-warm, Doux drops the pink pepper for a hushed opening of violet that folds into palo santo, frankincense, and myrrh (smoky, resinous, a little spiritual) before settling into ambroxan and ambrette. It's less “your skin but better” and more “the inside of a very good hotel lobby, but make it you.”
LOEWE Perfumes Iris Root
Part of Loewe's new Crafted Collection, which takes a classic perfumery ingredient and pushes it somewhere unexpected each time. Iris Root includes Angelica seed that lends a soft herbal lift while Timut pepper, a Nepalese cousin of Sichuan pepper, brings a bright, almost grapefruit-like zing that keeps the powder from ever turning dusty. The result is cool, rooty, and quietly architectural.
Parfums de Marly Athénaïs
The internet called this a Prada Paradoxe dupe the moment it launched; anyone who's actually worn both will tell you that's not it. Named for Athénaïs de Montespan, the fragrance opens on neroli, bergamot, and yuzu before blooming into orange blossom and jasmine sambac, then settling into a powdery, addictive base of tonka bean, vanilla, and amber. Think: a jasmine-spiked Aperol spritz in perfume form.
Vilhelm Parfumerie Mango Skin
If you've smelled this on someone this summer, you already know: it's the most photorealistic mango in fragrance right now, and depending who you ask, that's either its greatest trick or its biggest flaw. Blackberry and black pepper crash into ripe mango up top, wild orris and jasmine soften the middle, and a base of patchouli, vanilla, and “pink sugar” keeps it from tipping into candy territory.
