Henry Jacques Launches Cologne-Inspired Line

Henry Jacques continues to expand the vocabulary of Haute Parfumerie with the launch of IL Y AVAIT UN JARDIN…, a cologne-inspired collection built around freshness, simplicity and timelessness. With this release, the French perfume house reaffirms its commitment to craftsmanship while revisiting one of perfumery’s oldest rituals: the splash of a citrus-forward scent.

The Maison, known for pushing the boundaries of traditional fragrance through formats like Les Essences, Les Brumes, and Clic-Clac, now sets its sights on celebrating cologne as a fundamental element of perfumery rather than attempting to reinvent it. IL Y AVAIT UN JARDIN… debuts with two fragrances, I and II, both of which reflect a pared-back yet refined approach to scent. Meant to be worn liberally, these fragrances are housed in 250ml green glass flacons—substantial, inviting, and made for daily use.

At the heart of the collection is a deep respect for raw materials. Henry Jacques has collaborated with a family-run farm in Calabria, Italy, known for producing exceptional citrus for generations. This partnership has resulted in compositions rooted in vibrant, sun-soaked ingredients—bergamot, lemon, bitter orange, and aromatic herbs—each selected for their purity and potency.

Fragrance I opens with bright citrus and rosemary, softening into floral notes like orange blossom and lavender before settling into a base of sandalwood and ambery resins. II offers a more aromatic citrus experience, layered with petitgrain, nutmeg, and vetiver, rounded off with tonka bean and amber for a lasting, textured finish. Both are designed to evoke memories of summer gardens and the familiar comfort of nature.
