2025 Trends We Want (and Don’t Want) to See Again

Trends in 2025 felt less about rules and more about personality. What’s sticking isn’t always what looks “good” on paper, but what feels expressive, lived-in, and just a little bit chaotic. We’re in an era where comfort coexists with intention and where fun has quietly become a fashion value again.

That said, not everything deserves a permanent spot. Some trends thrive best on screens, some were overworked too quickly, and others just feel like they’re trying a little too hard. Here’s what we, at Cake The Mag, want to see more of in 2025 and what we’re okay leaving behind.

(At the end of the day, trends are just tools for self-expression, not rules to follow. There’s no right or wrong in fashion and aesthetics, only what feels good to you! Wear what makes you happy, experiment freely, and let people live.)

Polka Dots

We’re deeply attached. Polka dots feel playful without being childish and nostalgic without feeling dated. We’re not ready to see her go.

Dresses or Skirts Over Pants

We love it on Disney icons, pop stars, and music vidAt the end of the day, trends are just tools for self-expression, not rules to follow. It works in fantasy, less so on a Tuesday afternoon.

Animal Prints

Leopard, zebra, cow, snake. Animal prints are expressive and fun. This trend doesn’t need a comeback because it never really left.

Adam Sandler / Billie Eilish Core

Oversized, modest, unapologetically comfortable. This trend made “lazy” look intentional and expressive, and honestly, we need more of that energy.

Men in Cropped Tops

This started in 2024, survived 2025, and deserves a long life. More of this, please.

Secretary Glasses

If you actually need them to see or work, we’re in. If they’re there to force a vibe onto an already good outfit, it feels forced. Let the glasses earn their place.

Tight Button-Downs

They don’t look bad, they’re just… tired. Overdone, overly safe, and a little boring at this point.

Yellow

Colours don’t go out of style. If yellow works for you, it works. Simple as that!

Hot Pants

You can stay, but only if done tastefully. This one needs balance and confidence.

Loafers

Timeless, practical, and endlessly cool. The return of loafers just makes sense and we’re not interested in seeing them disappear again.

Bag Charms

This might be the most peaceful trend crossover we’ve seen in a while. Adults, teens, and kids all agreeing that charms on everything is fun? Rare and beautiful.

Mini Bubble Skirts

They came, they went, and honestly, it felt too quick. We wouldn’t mind seeing this one stick around a little longer.

Long Shorts with Socks and Loafers

We didn’t love it when it started and we still don’t. The idea is there, but the execution feels messy more often than not.

Stripes

Effortless, graphic, and consistently fun. Stripes never really miss.

Blind Boxes

They’re fun, exciting, and slightly unhinged in the best way. Sometimes mystery is the point.

Dad Shirts

Any dad or uncle-coded trend is welcome here. There’s something deeply comforting about an oversized button-down that feels borrowed, lived-in, and completely unbothered.
