Baume & Mercier Just Shrunk Its Most Architectural Watch

Baume & Mercier is scaling down one of its most recognisable silhouettes with Hampton XS, the Art Deco-inspired rectangular watch, now in a 28 x 17.75mm case. It's the first time the Hampton line has gone this small, and the shrink hasn't cost it any of the architectural detail that's defined the collection since it launched.

The standout feature is the dial: faceted on all four sides like a cut stone, index-free, with enough depth that it genuinely shifts character depending on how the light hits it. Paired with a new diamond-shaped metal bracelet option that echoes the case's geometry, it reads distinctly graphic.

The collection launches across four references: a steel version on grey taupe calfskin, a matching diamond-link bracelet version, a warm 4N PVD gold-tone edition on black calfskin, and an evening option in polished steel set with 28 diamonds (0.22 cts) against a black dial. All run on a Ronda 751 quartz movement with a five-year battery life, sapphire crystal, and 50m water resistance, genuinely wearable specs.

Many brands are shrinking their signature cases right now, but most of them stop at “smaller” and call it a day. Baume & Mercier redesigned the dial to actually earn the new scale rather than just miniaturising what already existed.
