“Chance Eau Splendide” Joins Chanel’s Fragrance Line
Chanel’s Chance fragrance line expands this season with a bold new addition: Chance Eau Splendide. Introduced as the fifth instalment in the collection, Eau Splendide joins the original Chance and its three interpretations—Eau Fraîche, Eau Tendre, and Eau Vive—with a new signature colour: purple. A symbol of mystery and modern elegance, it encapsulates the youthful yet grounded spirit Chanel continues to evoke through this series.
Crafted by Olivier Polge, Chanel’s In-House Perfumer-Creator, Chance Eau Splendide introduces a vibrant, fruity-floral profile. It opens with a crisp raspberry accord that softens into a floral heart of rose and violet, anchored by rose geranium sourced from Chanel’s own fields in Grasse. Underpinning the fragrance is a blend of white musk, cedar, and powdery iris—lending structure and staying power to the scent without overwhelming its luminous character.
Where previous Chance editions offered reinterpretations of a single state of mind, Eau Splendide embraces contrast. Polge balances spontaneity and structure, brightness and depth, in a formulation that feels both playful and intentional. It’s this duality that gives the fragrance its staying power—fitting for a house that thrives on revisiting tradition through a modern lens.
Fronting the campaign is Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle, whose career reflects the kind of serendipitous courage the fragrance seeks to capture. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the campaign film follows Angèle through a surreal hall of mirrors, soundtracked by her new song A Little More, composed especially for the launch. Her presence brings a grounded charm to the campaign’s dreamlike setting, and further strengthens Chanel’s alignment with contemporary female voices.
