Escape the Mall Rush at Scalini Cucina

The following is a review of Scalini Cucina written by an editor of Cake The Mag.

After a long day navigating the pace of Dubai Mall, Scalini Cucina felt like a much-needed breather. We were looking for something hearty and comforting, but still easy and convenient, and this hit the mark straight away. Despite being set inside one of the busiest malls in the world, it immediately felt calmer than expected, like stepping slightly off the grid.

We went in super casually and were welcomed into the space. Big teddy bears sat waiting at our table, a playful touch you’ll spot all around the restaurant, and one that instantly set a lighter, more relaxed tone. It was really charming and made the whole experience feel warmer and more approachable from the start.

We kicked things off with the Carpaccio Rucola e Parmigiano, Burrata con Datterini, and Calamari Fritti. Everything came out generous and familiar in the best way. The flavours felt comforting, leaning into simplicity rather than overcomplication, which made each dish easy to enjoy and perfect for sharing.

The Spaghetti all’Astice was the kind of main you order when you want something properly satisfying. Rich, well-balanced, and very comforting, and it felt unmistakably homemade. We ended on a tiramisu that was light, classic, and exactly what you want to close out an Italian dinner.

What really stayed with us was how relaxed we felt throughout the meal. Scalini Cucina managed to create a genuine sense of escape, even with the constant buzz just outside its doors. It’s comforting, unfussy, and quietly reassuring, the kind of place you go when you want good food, a calm atmosphere, and a break from the noise without overthinking it. Although we loved every dish, we really recommend the Spaghetti all’Astice if you’re into seafood pasta. The lobster was unmatched.
